About four months of normal use: the mineral cartridge runs the full four months while you swap a SmartChlor cartridge every 3–4 weeks, shock monthly with a Maintain packet, and confirm with the included @ease test strips.
If your spa has a built-in FROG cartridge holder (a round well in the filter area with a dial), these in-line cartridges snap straight in. If you have no in-line well, use the FROG @ease Floating system instead — same chemistry, floating delivery.
SmartChlor holds a deliberately low free-chlorine level and the minerals do the rest, so ordinary strips misread it. Use FROG @ease Test Strips — the single color tells you the cartridge is fine or empty.
