About four months for a typical hot tub: the mineral cartridge runs four months, the four SmartChlor cartridges last 3–4 weeks each, and you shock once a month with a Maintain packet.
The floater flips on its side when the SmartChlor cartridge is empty, and the @ease test strips confirm it. Keep a refill on the shelf so the spa is never unprotected.
@ease+ gives you 200g SmartChlor+ cartridges (10% more each), 30 test strips and a cord tether in one bag — at the same per-cartridge price. If both are in stock, @ease+ is the better value; this classic bundle remains a great pick while @ease+ is on backorder.
SmartChlor holds a deliberately low free-chlorine level and the minerals do the rest, so ordinary strips misread it. Use FROG @ease Test Strips — the single color tells you the cartridge is fine or empty.
