Garden Spas Control Panels & Topsides

Garden Spas control panels must match your spa pack — Balboa and Gecko panels can look identical from the topside, so match by your spa pack label.

✅ Not Sure It Fits? Verify Before Ordering

Hot tub part compatibility can vary by spa brand, model, year, serial number, control system, and part revision.

To help us identify the correct replacement part, please send clear photos of:

  • Your existing part label or sticker
  • Your spa serial number sticker
  • The equipment area or installation location (if accessible)

EZ Hot Tub Parts can help confirm fitment before you order and help reduce costly returns.

Matching a Garden Spas Control Panel

The panel on the spa’s rail is the face of the control system, and it only speaks one language — the one your spa pack uses. Most Garden Spas run Balboa, some 2021–2022 spas run Gecko, and there’s even a Gecko overlay with Garden Spas branding on it, which is exactly why appearance can’t be trusted. Match by your spa pack label: one photo of the label inside the equipment bay identifies the panel your spa takes.

Along with the label photo, a straight-on photo of your current panel helps — button count and layout confirm the exact replacement, and if only the surface is worn, an overlay may be all you need. Details on that diagnostic live on the Control System Parts page.

Make the New Panel Last

Panels and overlays die from trapped sanitizer vapor more than from use. Open your spa cover at least once a week — whether you used the spa or not — so the water can off-gas instead of concentrating vapor against the panel and the underside of the cover. Don’t over-shock the water, and use quality hot tub water care products like Frog or Leisure Time — balanced water is the cheapest panel protection there is.

Panel replaced? While you’re in the equipment bay, glance at the circuit board for corrosion and check heater unions for weeping — five minutes now beats a service call later.

What’s the difference between a topside control and a control panel?

Nothing — they’re two names for the same part. The industry calls it a topside control; most owners call it a control panel. It’s the button-and-display unit mounted on the spa’s top rail that runs temperature, jets, and lights.

Will a Gecko control panel work on a Balboa Garden Spa?

No. Control panels only work with their own brand of spa pack — a Gecko panel can’t run a Balboa system or vice versa, even when the panels look nearly identical. Match by your spa pack label before ordering.

Do I need to drain my Garden Spa to replace the control panel?

No. The panel is above the waterline and connects by cable to the spa pack. What you do need is power fully off at the breaker before touching anything — not just the panel’s off button.

Can I change my Garden Spas control panel to a different button layout?

The panel has to match your spa pack and your spa’s configuration — pump count, light setup, and system revision all narrow what fits. If you’re hoping to change layouts, send your spa pack label photo through the form above and we’ll tell you what your system actually supports.
