South Seas Spas Prior to 2021
Most South Seas Spas built before the 2021 model year used the Balboa operating system. If you are replacing a circuit board, topside control, heater, sensor, or related electronic component on an older South Seas Spa, Balboa compatibility is often an important fitment detail to verify before ordering.
South Seas Spas 2021 Model Year Change
According to an Artesian dealer alert dated 11/23/2020, South Seas Spas began transitioning in the 2021 model year from the Balboa operating system to the Gecko pack and topside. This transition applied to 2021 serial numbers beginning with 21XXXXX. Artesian noted that this operating system change only affected components below the cabinet, while the new topside would look almost identical to the previous version and warranties would remain the same.
South Seas Spas 2021 and Newer
Beginning with 2021 serial numbers, South Seas Spas started using Gecko-based electronics in place of earlier Balboa systems. That means 2021-and-newer South Seas Spas may require different topside controls, heaters, circuit boards, sensors, and pack-related parts than earlier models. Always verify part numbers, connection style, voltage, and system type before ordering.
