Valves are matched by function, size, and cap style. A valve that’s stiff, grinding, leaking around the stem, or spinning without resistance is telling you the internals have worn — most are replaced as complete units, though caps and some internals are available separately.

Which Valve Do You Have?

  • Diverter valve — the large valve that routes water between seat zones; typically 1″ or 2″ internals
  • Waterfall valve — the smaller valve that meters flow to the waterfall feature
  • Air control knob — blends air into jet lines; usually replaced as a cap-and-stem set
  • On/off valve — simple flow shutoffs on feature lines

Repair or Replace?

A stiff valve can sometimes be revived by removing the cap and lubricating the O-rings with silicone lube — never petroleum-based products. But grinding, leaking around the stem, or a handle that spins freely means worn internals, and a complete valve replacement is the durable fix. Deep valve bodies plumbed into the spa require draining below the valve line to replace.

  • Stiff or seized valve from mineral buildup
  • Leaking around the valve stem
  • Cracked cap or broken handle
  • Waterfall trickling with the valve fully open — sometimes the valve, sometimes debris in the line
