Tuff Spas Filters

Tuff Spas use two screw-in filters: all 2021-and-older tubs take the 40 sq ft fine-thread cartridge (EZ19), and some 2021-and-newer tubs switched to the 6″ 45 sq ft coarse-thread cartridge (EZ11). Look at the thread on the bottom of your filter: fine 2″ pipe thread or coarse 1-1/2″ thread.

Hot tub filter fitment varies by spa brand, model, year, filter size, thread style and top/bottom style.

To confirm the correct replacement, send clear photos of:

  • The label or end cap of your current filter

Tuff Spas filter buying guide

Fine thread 40 sq ft (EZ19). 5-3/16″ across, 10-3/4″ long, closed handle top, 2″ MPT thread on the bottom. Used on every Tuff Spa through the 2021 model year and on some newer ones. Cross-references: Pleatco PJW40SC-F2M, Unicel 5CH-402, Filbur FC-2811 (the same cartridge Jacuzzi and Sundance use as 6540-723). Stocked here in ProAqua; Darlly drop-ships.

Coarse thread 45 sq ft (EZ11). 6″ across, 8-1/4″ long, handle top, 1-1/2″ coarse SAE thread. Found on some 2021-and-newer Tuff Spas. Cross-references: Pleatco PWW50P3, Unicel 6CH-940, Filbur FC-0359. Stocked in Hurricane, made in the USA, and in ProAqua.

The two threads do not interchange. A 2″ pipe thread has fine, closely spaced threads; the 1-1/2″ SAE thread is coarser and the cartridge is a full inch wider. If your tub is 2021 or newer and you are unsure, send a photo of the bottom of the filter.

Which filter fits a Tuff Spa TT250?

If the tub was built in 2021 or earlier, the fine-thread 40 sq ft EZ19 cartridge. Some 2021-and-newer TT250s use the coarse-thread 45 sq ft EZ11 instead — check the thread on your current filter or send a photo through the form above.

What filter does a Tuff Spa TT150 take?

The same rule as every Tuff model: 2021 and older = fine-thread EZ19; some newer builds = coarse-thread EZ11. The TT150, TT250 and TT450 share filters by year, not by model.

How often should I replace a Tuff Spa filter?

About once a year with monthly cleaning. Both Tuff cartridges are inexpensive enough that most owners keep a spare to rotate while the other soaks.

Is the Tuff Spas filter the same as a Jacuzzi filter?

The fine-thread 40 sq ft EZ19 is the same cartridge Jacuzzi and Sundance sell as 6540-723, so yes for that one. The coarse-thread EZ11 is the common Waterway 6CH-940 cartridge used by many brands.
