Hot tub filter fitment varies by spa brand, model, year, filter size, thread style and top/bottom style.

To confirm the correct replacement, send clear photos of:

  • The label or end cap of your current filter
  • Your spa serial number sticker

Which Ego3 cartridge fits my hot tub?

#5 Top Load — any drop-in cartridge (PRB50-IN, PRB35-IN, PLBS50/75/100 class) or Teleweir inside-thread cartridge (PWW50L / 4CH-949) with a 5.9″ top opening, floating weir or vein cover: Cartridge #5. Fits QCA, Rippling Water, Leisure Bay, Cal, Dynasty, Arctic, Clearwater, Coast, Caldera drop-ins and more.

#2 — 1-1/2″ coarse thread (PWW50P3, 6CH-940, Master Spas X268045/X268549): Cartridge #2. Bullfrog, Viking, Tuff, Strong, Vita, Dynasty, Sunrise, Thermo, Leisure Bay, H2X and SwimLife swim spas.

#4 — 2″ coarse thread (PJW60TL, 6CH-960, 6CH-961, Cal FIL75-7D155H2MCT, Bullfrog PBF35/PBF50): Cartridge #4. Jacuzzi J-300/J-400, Cal Spas Megaweir, Bullfrog.

How does an Ego3 filter work?

The canister holds loose filter media (filter balls) instead of pleated paper. Water passes through the media bed; when the balls are loaded, you empty the canister, drop in a refill and keep the canister. One refill is 20 balls, enough for one canister (the Sundance version takes two).

Which Ego3 cartridge do I need?

Look at the bottom of your current filter. Threads on the outside: measure them — 1-1/2″ coarse is #2, 1-1/2″ fine is #1, 2″ coarse is #4, 2″ fine is #3. No threads (drop-in) or a thread inside the bottom (Teleweir): #5 top load. Sundance 980/880/780 has its own canister. Send a photo through the form above if in doubt.

How often do I refill an Ego3 filter?

When the balls stop rinsing clean or flow drops noticeably — typically every 3–6 months depending on bather load. Rinse the balls every few weeks in between; a monthly soak in filter cleaner extends each refill.

Does Ego3 filter as well as a pleated cartridge?

The media bed traps fine particles through depth rather than surface area, and because you refresh the media instead of cleaning old pleats, filtration stays consistent. It is the reusable pick on our compare page; pleated Hurricane or Pleatco remain the choice if you prefer a conventional cartridge.
