Sundance filter buying guide

780 / 880 / 980 Series (EZ16). One tall double-ended cartridge, 8-7/16″ across and 19″ long with a divider about 8″ below the top, a 1-1/2″ slip fitting on top and a 2-1/2″ open hole underneath. It fits Claremont, Kingston, Aspen, Optima, Cameo, Altamar, Vistamar, Marin, Capri, Chelsee, Hamilton, Bristol, Montclair, Dover and Certa. Stocked in ProAqua (EZ16), drop-shipped in Darlly, and available as a reusable Ego3 cartridge that takes two refills.

MicroClean system (EZ14 + EZ15). Two parts nested in one well: a pleated outer cartridge with a closed 2″ SAE top (EZ14, 8-7/16″ × 14″) and a disposable depth-filter donut inside it (EZ15, 7-1/2″ × 5″). The inner is thrown away when dirty, not cleaned. Order both when you service the spa.

MicroClean II. The later single-piece version: 8-1/2″ across, 19″ long, slip-fit top and open bottom. If your spa takes one tall cartridge with no inner donut and no divider, this is it.

Screw-in filters. The 40 sq ft fine-thread cartridge (EZ19, 5-3/16″ across, 2″ MPT) is shared with Jacuzzi and Tuff Spas; a 60 sq ft 6-5/8″ cartridge with a 2″ SAE thread (shop) is shared with Jacuzzi J-300/J-400, and smaller 30, 35 and 47 sq ft screw-ins cover other models — match the diameter and the thread.

Drop-in filters. The open-ended 50 sq ft EZ04 and smaller drop-ins sit in the well under a lid; measure the length and the end-cap hole.

Sundance filter questions

Are there compatible filters for Sundance spa models?

Yes. Every Sundance cartridge is made to standard dimensions and sold under Pleatco, Unicel, Filbur, ProAqua and Darlly numbers; the product page for each filter lists the Sundance part number it replaces (for example 6540-488 for the 780/880/980 filter, 6540-501 and 6540-502 for MicroClean, 6540-507 for MicroClean II, 6540-723 for the fine-thread 40 sq ft). Fit is identical when size and end style match.

Which filter does a Sundance Chelsee, Optima or Cameo use?

Those are 780/880/980 Series spas and take the 125 sq ft double-ended EZ16 cartridge (Sundance 6540-488), in ProAqua, Darlly or the reusable Ego3 version.

What is the Sundance MicroClean filter?

A two-part system used on many Sundance spas: a pleated outer cartridge (EZ14, Pleatco PSD85-2002) with a disposable depth-filter donut inside it (EZ15, Pleatco PPS750). Clean the outer, replace the inner. MicroClean II is the later single-piece cartridge (Sundance 6540-507).

How often should Sundance filters be replaced?

Pleated cartridges about once a year with monthly cleaning; the MicroClean inner donut is disposable and is usually replaced every 3–6 months depending on use. The Ego3 version of the 780/880/980 filter is refilled instead of replaced.
