Cal Spas Filters

Cal Spas used five different filters over the years, and the fastest way to tell them apart is how the filter comes out of the well: threads in from inside (Teleweir), lifts straight out (drop-in, tall or short) or screws in from the bottom (outside thread). Match that first, then the size.

✅ Not Sure It Fits? Verify Before Ordering

Hot tub filter fitment varies by spa brand, model, year, filter size, thread style and top/bottom style.

To confirm the correct replacement, send clear photos of:

  • The label or end cap of your current filter
  • Your spa serial number sticker
  • The filter well with the filter removed (so we can see the fitting)

EZ Hot Tub Parts confirms fitment before you order, so you do not pay return freight on a wrong filter.

Cal Spas filter buying guide

Teleweir (EZ05). Cal Spas’ skimmer-weir filter: a 50 sq ft cartridge with a 2″ female thread recessed inside the bottom, 5″ across and 13″ long. Standard on 2022–2024 Patio, Patio Plus and Escape, select 2024 Escape-X, Platinum and Deck models and the 2023 Family Fun. It is also the single most common spa filter on the market today, so every brand makes it: Hurricane single, Hurricane 2 pack, antimicrobial, Darlly, and the reusable Ego3 top-load cartridge.

Drop-in 75 sq ft (EZ07) and 50 sq ft (EZ04). Open at both ends, no threads — they sit in the well under a lid. The 75 sq ft is 14-1/2″ long and standard on 2021–2024 tubs; the 50 sq ft is 13″ long and the classic Cal Spas cartridge of the 2000s and 2010s, shared with some 35 other spa brands. Measure the length before ordering: the two look identical from the top.

Mega Weir (EZ10). The big 7″-diameter cartridge with a 2″ male coarse thread, used on 2015-and-newer Connect and Escape models (C-751L, C-751B, E-751L, E-751B) and on Jacuzzi J-300/J-400 tubs. Sold stocked in ProAqua and drop-shipped in Darlly.

Outside thread 50 sq ft (EZ09) is the older 5″ screw-in cartridge with a 2″ male thread; 35 sq ft drop-in (EZ03) is the short open cartridge shared with Garden Spas and Master Spas.

Your current filter’s end cap usually carries a Cal Spas FIL number; the “What part numbers does this replace?” question on each product page lists them, so you can match by number if you prefer.

Not sure which filter brand is right for you? Compare Hurricane, OEM Factory Direct, Pleatco, ProAqua, Darlly and Ego3.

Keep your filters working longer: High Pressure Filter Nozzle | Filter Cleaner | Water Care — and every order over $99 ships free, so a spare set plus cleaner usually rides along at no extra cost.

Cal Spas filter questions

Which Cal Spa replacement filter do I need?

Pull the filter and look at the bottom. A 2″ female thread recessed inside the bottom is the Teleweir EZ05. Open at both ends with no threads is a drop-in: 14-1/2″ long is the 75 sq ft EZ07, 13″ long is the 50 sq ft EZ04. A male thread sticking out of the bottom is a screw-in: 7″ across is the Mega Weir EZ10, 5″ across is the EZ09. If it is none of these, send a photo through the form above.

Do you sell the Cal Spa filter housing, not just the cartridge?

This page is filter cartridges. Filter housings, weir doors, lids and standpipes are Cal Spas plumbing parts — send a photo of the housing and your serial number through the fitment form and we will quote the part; many of them are not listed online.

Is the Cal Spas OEM filter better than Hurricane or ProAqua?

It is the same pleated construction made to the same dimensions; the OEM label is the spa maker’s brand on it. We stock Hurricane (USA-made) as the value pick, offer ProAqua and Darlly as budget drop-ship options and list the OEM version for owners who want the factory label. Fit is identical when the size and end style match.

How often do Cal Spas filters need replacing?

About once a year with monthly cleaning. The Teleweir EZ05 and drop-in cartridges are cheap enough that most owners keep a spare set and rotate: one in the tub, one drying on the shelf.

Can I use a reusable filter in a Cal Spa?

Yes for Teleweir models: the Ego3 #5 top-load cartridge drops into the EZ05 well and you refill it with media instead of replacing the whole filter.
