Bullfrog Spas Filters

Bullfrog changed filters by model year, so the year on your serial plate tells you the cartridge: 2017-and-newer spas use a coreless 30 sq ft filter on a core cage, 2013–2017 a long-thread 35 sq ft, 2003–2012 a short-thread 35 sq ft, 2000–2002 a 1-1/2″ thread 45 sq ft, and 1997–1999 a drop-in.

Find your Bullfrog filter by year in 10 seconds

Not sure of the year? The 2017-and-newer filter has no threads and no center core; the 2013–2017 and 2003–2012 filters look alike but the newer thread is noticeably longer. Send a photo through the form below and we confirm it before you order.

✅ Not Sure It Fits? Verify Before Ordering

Hot tub filter fitment varies by spa brand, model, year, filter size, thread style and top/bottom style.

To confirm the correct replacement, send clear photos of:

  • The label or end cap of your current filter
  • Your spa serial number sticker
  • The filter well with the filter removed (so we can see the fitting)

EZ Hot Tub Parts confirms fitment before you order, so you do not pay return freight on a wrong filter.

Bullfrog filter buying guide

2017 and newer (EZ25). A coreless 30 sq ft cartridge, 8″ across and 6-1/4″ tall with 3-3/8″ and 4-1/2″ open holes, that slides over the spa’s reusable core cage and cap. Bullfrog part 10-00282, Pleatco PBF40. The smaller 18 sq ft version of the same design (Pleatco PBF17) serves the compact models — ask if yours is under 6″ tall.

2013–2017 (PBF36). 35 sq ft, 8″ across, 5-7/8″ tall, handle top, 2″ modified-ACME long thread. Bullfrog part 10-2870. We stock the genuine Pleatco PBF36.

2003–2012 (EZ12). Same body with the short 2″ coarse thread: Bullfrog 10-2785, Pleatco PBF35, Unicel 8CH-950. Also used on Tadpole Spas. A reusable Ego3 #4 cartridge fits this thread.

2000–2002 (EZ11) is the 6″ 45 sq ft cartridge with a 1-1/2″ coarse thread (Bullfrog 10-1085, Unicel 6CH-940) — stocked here in Hurricane, made in the USA. 1997–1999 (EZ04) is the open-ended 50 sq ft drop-in (Bullfrog 10-1086, Unicel C-4950); a 35 sq ft drop-in (EZ03) served some of the same spas.

Bullfrog filter questions

Which Bullfrog hot tub filter do I need?

Check the year on your serial plate. 2017 and newer: the coreless 30 sq ft EZ25. 2013–2017: the long-thread Pleatco PBF36. 2003–2012: the short-thread EZ12. 2000–2002: the 1-1/2″ thread EZ11. 1997–1999: the drop-in EZ04. If the filter in your hand does not match, send a photo through the form above.

Where is the filter on a Bullfrog spa?

Under the filter lid at the top of the spa, usually next to the skimmer. On 2017-and-newer spas the cartridge slides over a reusable core cage — keep the cage and cap and replace only the cartridge.

What is Bullfrog part 10-00282?

The coreless 30 sq ft cartridge for 2017-and-newer spas (Pleatco PBF40), our EZ25. It fits over the core cage; the cartridge alone is what you replace.

Do Bullfrog R Series and A Series spas use the same filter?

Yes for 2017-and-newer A Series, R Series, M Series and STIL spas: the coreless EZ25 (or the smaller 18 sq ft version on compact models). Older R Series spas use the threaded cartridges by year.

How often should a Bullfrog filter be replaced?

About once a year with monthly cleaning; the coreless 2017+ cartridge is easy to rinse from both sides. Keep a spare so the spa never runs on a wet, half-cleaned filter.
