***Important – When you measures a spa, they must measure the widest points for the outside length and width.

There may be other shapes not pictured above. You’ll need to work with your local Spa Company to help with that.

The most common shape is a square or rectangle with Radius Corners, so the next step in how to measure a hot tub cover is how to find the correct corner radius.

How to find the correct corner radius you will need a framing square or a tape measure and a straight edge. Begin by placing the square firmly against the hot tub’s rim at the corners as show in the diagram below. Note where the curve starts. The radius is the measurement between the inside corner of the square and where the curve of the spa corner first touches the square. In the example below the radius shown is a 5″ radius, for very tight fit you can order a 5″ radius cover, if you want a little bit looser fit you can order a 4″ radius. Ordering a 6″ radius and the skirting won’t fit properly and the acrylic of the hot tub will be exposed.

Other measurements and info you will need to know:

  • How long do you want the skirt? Is the skirt the same length all the way around the tub?
  • How many locking straps do you want? What length below the skirt do you want the strap to hang down? Where do you want the straps positioned?
  • What Density foam do you want? 1lb, 1.5lb, 2lb? 2lb density is stronger and has a higher R-Valvue than 1lb foam.
  • What thickness and taper do you want the foam? Common thicknesses: 4″ – 2.5″ and 5.5″ – 4″
  • What thickness Vapor Barrier do you want? Do you want it double wrapped?
  • Do you want the full length of the hinge to be insulated or just the edges?
  • Is there anything special about your tub? Such as Speakers, Sloped Acrylic, Etc…
